Staff were obligig and very accomodating. We met an excellent duty manager and a new member of staff over breakfast and they could not do enough. Friendly and professional.

  • Family with children

There is a big swimming pool and spa area. For golf players there are special golf fields but we have never tried so I can say nothing about quality...

The hotel staff is quite unexperienced. On the time of booking I asked to provide to my kids two twin beds with one extra bed. As a result I have got one king size bed (for three of hem). After my conversation one extra bed was added but the king-size bed remained as is. During check-out time (we were late for 10-15 minutes) they were calling us every single minute and the house-keeper was standing next to us in the room and was watching us packing our suitcases...The hotel staff were not able to assist us even with such basic things as for example map of Dublin...Breakfasts are quite industrial. The location is really poor.

  • Couple

Very helpfull staff, they got all we required (Plug adaptator and portable heater).Huge pool and huge and pretty well equiped Gym.

Some of the rooms available have uglus views to the rear part of the building and the kitchens.

  • Single

The hotel has many good golf courses nearby. There is a very good leisure facility in the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Noise in the room caused by the plant room of the hotel. Constant drone of a generator I think

  • Older travelers

    staff are always welcoming

On Saterday night some guests can be noisy in gangways leading to bedrooms

  • Older travelers

Very helpful reception staff. Loved thegolf course. Good evening meal, very nice nroom and bathroom.

Thought the areas outside the rooms- corridors etc were a bit shoddy and tired.

  • Group of friends

I like the chilled out feeling and ambience of the hotel foye. Nice food. Felt rooms are secure as key card is required before entering each corridor of rooms. Golf course is fab. Cocktails are gorgeous! Dublin city easily accessible. Restaurants in Castleknock, the Chinese and Italian are beautiful. Pheonix Park nice to relax or even excerise in!

Rooms very hot, could benefit from air con. Ice machine broken on first floor. Alcohol and food slightly overpriced. Proper spa/treatment facilities would be nice rather than use of vaccant bedroom.

  • Couple

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at castleknock hotel and country club for 3nights, we found it very relaxing, the staff were very pleasant, very well mannered and extremely helpful with all our enquiries. Also, on our first night we ate in the bar area and our waiter paul was extremely entertaining, pleasant, helpful and as a result we began our stay with a friendly experience which continued throughout our stay. We also availed of the spa facilities, this was our first ever massages and we were very very relaxed afterwards and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The two girls were very good at their jobs and were extremely pleasant.

There was a wedding in the hotel one night and the children were very noisey however staff were very quick to deal with this and we understood that this was a special occassion. There was live music in the bar/lounge on the friday and saturday night this was very entertaining and the bands were very good but they finished very early for our liking as we thoroughly enjoy live music.

  • Family with children

Entertainment at night and bbq, great family run hotel

    Food was just ok

  • Single

    The excellent athmosphere

Again, as last visit while a different section of the hotel, the carpets are filthy and each rooms entry door is so scratched it NEEDs seeing to.

  • Couple

The facilities are very good, lovely leisure centre, which is free for guests to use (remember to bring your swim hat). Includes jacuzzi, sauna, steam room. Lovely setting with floor to ceiling windows. Staff were very pleasant. Good choice of food options, bar food available till 10pm. We sat outside, gorgeous surroundings and watched the sun set as we ate. Trad music in the bar on the Sat night was entertaining but a little loud. The room (we eventually got after requesting a move from the one we were originally assigned) was very comfortable, lovely spacious bedroom and bathroom. Didn't have the breakfast, the price for two full breakfast would have been two-thirds of the price paid for the room, so we got rolls and coffee in the local spar and had breakfast in the Phoenix Park:)

When we checked in, the room we were originally assigned was a wheelchair accessible room, which is fine and perfectly equipped for use by someone in a wheelchair, but not for an able-bodied person. There was no separate shower in the bathroom, just a bath with a shower attachment, which could not be attached to the wall and there was also no shower curtain. So you would have to sit in the bath and hold the shower piece over your head, whilst attempting (and failing) not to soak the floor in the absence of a shower curtain. The sink would have been perfect for a childs bathroom, being about half the size of that found in the standard household bathroom. Not what you would expect in a four star hotel. Also the double bed was two singles pushed together. When we rang to request a move, we were refused at first as they said they were full, when we suggested we would take the matter further and write to the management, we were offered a move to a twin room... When we said we required a double room the receptionist asked if that was what we had requested when booking.. It was... We don't usuallty sleep in separate beds!!! She said she'd check the reservation and get back to us. I had printed out the reservation confirmation where it clearly stated that not only had I requested a double but had written in the comments box that I required a double, non - smoking room. The room we were moved to was perfect and what we had expected from our stay.

  • Group of friends

Rate per room was very good value for money and the bathroom sparkled.

Initially we had no complaints and were very impressed with our initial greeting on arrival and the room. However, having queried the possibility of a Taxi the hotel offered to call one for us - for a hidden premium of E2 payable to the taxi company and sacrificing the 20% discount offered on the taxi card which they choose not to make aware to us... The bar food was very disappointing - for E6.50 I received a poorly presented, poor quality bread sandwich with the wrong filling threw on the plate besides half a bag of crinkle crisps.... We managed to negotiate a late check out - 1pm instead of 12noon - however our request was not appreciated and we were warned by a mannerless male member of staff a E50 penalty would incur were we late... We were not. Our request for a late check out was to facilitate use of the leisure facilities prior to our departure - again the period of use expires at check out without flexibility and the use of a swimming cap is mandatory and are 'conveniently' for sale for E3 at the pool - however these are actually only required for the main pool which we concluded was small on sight and not necessary to enjoy the Jucuzzi, steam rooms or small pool.... To summarize, book your own Taxi, Eat elsewhere, Don't check out late and bring your own swimming cap... Otherwise the hotel is really quite lovely and great value for money...

  • Older travelers

visiting the wicklow mountains was brilliant. Ireland is a wonderful place to visit every ones seems to be your friend. Our room on first night was noisy from generators outside but receptionist gave us a different room next night with no hassle. loved our stay shall be back.

  • Group of friends

Value for money. Lovely room/Very comfortable bed. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Bedroom very warm. Breakfast was horrible, as agreed by all 6 of us staying there. Such a let down for such a lovely hotel.

  • Single

The housekeeping staff are just excellent. They remembered my last visit and welcomed me back !while reception with their database did not as I checked in...hummm....My compliments to the housekeeping staff for the spotless rooms from top to bottom, something I almost never say about hotels I stay in. Gym staff are friendly and they keep the locker rooms superbly clean which is very important.

My Second stay and the carpets in the corridors (My Rooms 117-108) and along are flithy. This may be because of clients suitcases being rolled on the carpet. As the hotel is painting the hotel should address the carpet.
